James ThompsonJames Thompson serves as a Principal and Senior Analyst at Southeastern Asset Management, Inc. He rejoined Southeastern Asset Management, Inc. on December 1, 2010. Mr. Thompson served as the Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, and Investment Team Lead at Mackenzie Cundill Investment Management Limited. He joined Mackenzie Cundill Investment Management Limited in February 2009. Mr. Thompson was a Vice President at Southeastern Asset Management, Inc. in Memphis and London, England. He first joined Southeastern in 1996 in the firm's Memphis, Tennessee headquarters. In 2001, Mr. Thompson opened Southeastern's London office where he remained until 2007. From 2007 to 2008, he served in a consulting role to Southeastern following his move to California. Mr. Thompson served at the firm from 1996 to 2007 and was integral in the management of Longleaf Partners International. Prior to that, he was a Vice President and Partner at Salem Investment Counselors in Winston-Salem from 1994 to 1995. Mr. Thompson was a Director of Research at Wilmington Capital Management in Wilmington from 1991 to 1993. From 1987 to 1990, he was a Senior Analyst at Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. in Winston-Salem. Mr. Thompson is a C.F.A. charter holder. He earned an M.B.A. degree from University of Virginia in 1986, a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina, B.S. degree in Business Administration from University of North Carolina in 1982.
